Meet the Flock: Kathy Schaub

Since 1803, we’ve been a gathering place. With that legacy comes a whole host of wonderful personalities who have helped make the Golden Lamb what it is today. As we tell stories of our past, we also want to bring you tales from the legends of our present!
Meet Kathy Schaub, our Gift Shop Manager! Kathy is celebrating her 15th anniversary with The Golden Lamb this year and is an absolute treasure to our team. She oversees all gift shop operations, including merchandise purchasing, ensuring that we always have a beautifully curated selection of gifts, display styling and more. Get to know Kathy as she shares her story in her own words!
Q: When did you start working at The Golden Lamb?
I was offered the opportunity to begin running the Golden Lamb Gift Shop in August of 2011.
Q: What do your responsibilities include?
I am fully responsible for all operations in the gift shop including purchasing product, hiring staff and putting together displays.
Q: Did you grow up in Cincinnati? If so, what part? If not, where are you from and how did you end up in Cincinnati?
I grew up in Centerville, OH and enjoyed coming to the Golden Lamb for special occasions with my family. I had no idea the Golden Lamb even had a gift shop until the general manager visited my store in Middletown in 2011, liked what I had done with that shop and asked me to consider doing something similar in the lower level of the Golden Lamb.
Q: What does it mean to you to be part of the Golden Lamb legacy?
When I first visited the shop I could see the potential for something special, and I was honored to be associated with such a well known historical gem.
Q: What is your favorite item on The Golden Lamb menu
Once I was up and running, I quickly became addicted to the fried chicken dinner in the restaurant! That is literally the best fried chicken I have ever tasted!
Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
In the last five years I have closed my other stores to focus fully on the Golden Lamb Gift shop. It brings a huge smile to my face every morning when I walk through the hotel to open the shop, and I couldn’t do it without my amazing staff. I feel truly blessed
