Triple Chocolate Yule Log with Local Peppermint Gelato 95

The first mention of the Yule log in Britain is a written account by the clergyman Robert Herrick, from the 1620s or 1630s. Herrick called the tradition a “Christmas log” and said that it was brought into the farmhouse by a group of males, who were then rewarded with beer from the farmer’s wife. The fire used to burn the log was always started with a remnant from the log that had been burned in the previous year’s festivities.

Warm Wassail — a mixture of brandy, sherry, cinnamon, ginger & nutmeg sure to warm your soul 95

Wassailing refers to a traditional ceremony that involved singing and drinking to the health of trees in hopes that they might better thrive. The purpose of wassailing was to awaken the cider apple trees, scare away evil spirits and ensure a good harvest of fruit in the autumn.

Smoking Bishop — warm port wine infused with oranges and clove 95

At the very end of the beloved Charles Dickens holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, a reformed Ebenezer Scrooge and his long-suffering employee Bob Cratchit share an oddly named libation: "A Merry Christmas, Bob!" said Scrooge with an earnestness that could not be mistaken as he clapped him on the back. "A merrier Christmas, Bob, my good fellow, than I have given you for many a year! I'll raise your salary and endeavor to assist your struggling family, and we will discuss your affairs this very afternoon over a bowl of Smoking Bishop, Bob!"
