Ronald Reagan Room

Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States, visited The Golden Lamb around 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 1968. At the time, he had been governor of California for two years.

He was here to campaign for the re-election of freshman Congressman Donald E. “Buz” Lukens who had supported Reagan at the Republican Party’s Presidential Convention that summer. Around 700 spectators, many of them movie fans, watched in front of The Golden Lamb as Lebanon’s mayor welcomed the governor and proclaimed it  “Ronald Reagan Day."

Reagan spoke to 100 people packed into our Black Horse Tavern, which, in 1968, was on our lower level where our gift shop is now located. After he spoke, Reagan shook the hand of everyone in the room.

The Ronald Reagan Room is nestled on the end of our fourth floor hallway and has a comfortable bed with antique headboard and footboard, and a private bathroom.
