George W. Bush Room
George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States, visited The Golden Lamb on May 4, 2004. Of the 12 presidents who have visited us, he is the only one to come while in office. A fact he alluded to when he quipped to the crowd in front of the hotel, “I am proud to be the first sitting president to have visited here - actually I’m the first standing president today.” After his speech he came into The Golden Lamb and was shown the room in which his mother, Barbara Bush, spent the night on April 12, 1988. She was here to campaign for her husband, the President’s father, in his first race for the presidency. Upon seeing the room, the President was told it would now be the George W. Bush Room. This elegant room on our second floor is one of our most requested. It provides a lovely view of the Gazebo Park next door and its beautiful four-poster canopy double bed is the same one used by former First Lady Barbara Bush.
